A Home for Liberian Languages: Support LLI’s Land Fund

We are raising $25,000 to buy three acres of land for The Liberian Language Institute (LLI).

This land will become the permanent home of an institution dedicated to teaching, recording, and preserving Liberian languages for present and future generations.

At the moment, LLI runs online and in-person language classes at the Liberian Learning Center. While we are grateful for the rented space, it is not our own.

Our programs continue to grow, and the demand for language learning, recording, and research is increasing.

To expand fully and operate with stability, LLI needs a permanent home that belongs to the people and mission it serves.

Over the years, LLI has taken concrete steps to protect Liberian languages. We have developed keyboards that enable typing in Liberian languages on computers and mobile phones.

We have published language datasets, recorded native speakers, and started translating national documents so ordinary people can understand them in their own languages.

All this work has been done with limited space and resources.

Owning land will allow us to build classrooms, recording studios, and offices for research and digital development.

It will also serve as a cultural center where elders, teachers, students, and researchers can pass knowledge from one generation to the next.

This land is an investment in Liberia’s identity, history, and future. Your support —whether big or small— helps give Liberian languages a permanent home where they can grow and survive forever.
