Why This Event Matters

Liberia’s indigenous languages are at risk of extinction, and the loss of these languages means the loss of centuries-old traditions, stories, and cultural identity. The launch of LIBELP marks the beginning of a collective effort to:

  • Document and teach endangered languages.
  • Create accessible learning resources for schools and communities.
  • Promote bilingual education and linguistic pride among Liberians.
  • Use innovative tools, including mobile apps, to bring these languages into the digital age.
