The Keyboard

At LIBELP, we are working on creating keyboards for Liberian languages, both on computers and smartphones, to empower every Liberian community member to use their languages in daily conversation on social media and various platforms.

For instance, we are currently testing the beta version of the Kpelle keyboard and invite the Kpelle-speaking community to test it and provide feedback for improvement.

Free Online Courses

One of our initiatives is the development of free online courses for all Liberian languages to empower lifelong language leaners. These courses will be available for every Liberia whether in Liberia or in the diaspora and other nationals interested in learning Liberian languages.

Professional Development for Language Experts

At LIBELP, we empower learners, educators, and language experts. We will partner with linguists worldwide and other institutions, such as the Endangered Languages Project, to train our experts to use state-of-the-art tools for language learning, revitalization, and preservation.

Dictionary

We will work with our language experts to produce dictionaries for all Liberian languages. Currently, only a small number of Liberian languages have dictionaries, and those dictionaries need to be updated. In this project, we will create dictionaries for Liberian languages that have none and update the existing dictionaries.

Billboard

We will construct a billboard at the Roberts International Airport (ROB) with a welcome to Liberia in Liberian languages.

Dataset for Natural Language Processing (NLP)

We are currently working with experts to generate a dataset for NLP. This project will help represent Liberian languages as low-resource languages in the NLP community.

Language Learning App

We will work with developers to create a language-learning app for Liberian languages so learners can learn on the go.
